Why 90% of cases seeking to monetise your blog / website is a failure from the beginning? Simply because is not targeting. The big problem with affiliate marketing is that if you do not have a blog / site targeted on a specific product category, you will not be able to sell anything. And affiliate marketing is targeting everything. To exemplify quickly trivial case: I, Adrian, have a personal blog where I write "all for all": from how I spent the time today, to some comments about politics. I have a 1000 traffic unique users per day and an average of 3000 hits. Hoping that this traffic will continue and the monetization will be very simple I’m not adding banners from affiliates because I considering myself already wealthy. 30 days have passed, and I concluded:
1. more displays of banners
2. a decent number of clicks on banners
3. 0 sales and 0 commissions
Why? Because targeting is missing. My users will not buy any computer or TV.Simply because this is my audience, they just wanna know something about me.
It is good to know that when you start to monetise the site through affiliate marketing, your traffic needs to be targeted on products that you try to sell. Otherwise, it's like you put on a commercial IT Blog some stockings advertising, and even if you have hits you don’t have buyers because you are not deliver what your users are looking for.
Small tips to have success with affiliate marketing online:
1. Develop your site on a niche and target your content on specific types of products / customers
2. Site advertising: just get targeted visitors, visitors coming from a warez site doesn’t help you on your website with affiliates that sell licenses of some software.
3. Always be aware of what your user wants to read, maintain contact with users who had reactions after what you wrote
4. Remember, monetization through affiliate marketing is totally different monetization than CPC (cost per click). More specifically, affiliate marketing is not AdSense or any other similar program.
